Elon Musk has officially launched Grokipedia, a new online encyclopedia developed by his AI company, xAI. The tech billionaire announced the release in a series of posts on X, stating that Grokipedia aims to compete directly with Wikipedia.
“Grokipedia version 0.1 is now live,” Musk wrote. “The goal of Grok and Grokipedia.com is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.”
Musk claimed the current version is “better than Wikipedia imo” and emphasized that Grokipedia will evolve alongside Grok, xAI’s chatbot. He said the platform embeds principles of critical thinking and cogency.
The launch follows a one-week delay from the original October 20 release date. Musk explained the postponement was necessary to “do more work to purge out the propaganda.”
“Grokipedia.com is fully open source, so anyone can use it for anything at no cost,” he assured users.
Musk has repeatedly criticized Wikipedia, accusing it of ideological bias and control by “far-left activists.” He urged users to stop donating to the site and posted, “Defund Wikipedia until balance is restored.”
Since Grokipedia’s debut, Musk has shared user guides on X. These include instructions for exchanging links, correcting errors, and navigating the AI-powered encyclopedia.
