Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has appointed Barr. Kasimu Otono as his new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, following the suspension of Felix Isere earlier in the week.

Isere was suspended for allegedly soliciting funds without authorization in the name of the Edo State Government ahead of a proposed Oil and Gas Summit slated for August 7 in Benin City.

The appointment was announced on Friday through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor.

“The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barr. Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil and Gas),” the statement read.

Otono is described as a legal practitioner, real estate entrepreneur, and community mobiliser. He is also a Senior Partner at Kay and Kay Legal, a firm focused on commercial, real estate, and oil and gas law.

He holds membership in both the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).

Governor Okpebholo had earlier directed Isere to refund all funds collected from donors and advised the public against further transactions with the suspended aide.
