Comfort Emmanson was released on Wednesday by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, after she was charged with assault and unruly behavior on an Ibom Air flight.

Following the police’s official withdrawal of the case, presiding magistrate Olanrewaju Salami dismissed the five-count charge against Emmanson.

The charges had claimed that Emmanson had attacked a crew member, disturbed the tranquility of the flight, and behaved in a way that could have violated public order.

When Emmanson was arraigned, she entered a not guilty plea.

Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan, however, told the court during today’s proceedings that the airline and the complainant had lost interest in pursuing the case.

She requested that the case be dropped, citing directives from the police.

Following the application, Emmanson’s discharge was ordered by Magistrate Salami, who granted the request.
