Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), says the company faces attacks from groups resisting its reform efforts.

Ojulari made this known on Thursday while hosting the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) at the NNPC Towers in Abuja. He stressed that reform comes at a price and vowed that NNPC Ltd. would not yield to pressure.

“We are under attack. We will not bow to short-term pressure, as it is not in Nigeria’s best interest,” Ojulari stated.

He emphasized that driving change demands sacrifice, and transformation remains tough but necessary. Ojulari also reaffirmed his commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate and urged patience as reforms progress.

The NNPC Ltd. boss assured union leaders that the company will continue despite challenges. He highlighted efforts to revive Nigeria’s refineries using the Incorporated Joint Venture (IJV) model. According to him, this strategy ensures long-term refinery operations rather than short-term fixes.

“Mr. President doesn’t pressure me to compromise. We are setting a baseline to make sure refineries work sustainably,” Bayo Ojulari added.
