Aliko Dangote, the founder of Dangote Cement Plc and a leading entrepreneur, has declared that he would no longer serve as a director or chairman of the board of directors as of July 25, 2025. In order to devote more time to the Refinery, Petrochemicals, Fertilizer, and Government Relations, he is stepping down as chairman and retiring from the board.
Emmanuel Ikazoboh, an independent non-executive director, was named the new Chairman of the Dangote Cement Plc Board of Directors.
Professor Dorothy Ufot has retired, and Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote was also added to the Board of Directors.
Africa’s leading industrialist, Aliko Dangote, has left a transformative legacy after resigning from the Board. Through his audacious plans and wise investments, Dangote Cement became the biggest cement manufacturer and exporter in Sub-Saharan Africa, attaining cement production self-sufficiency throughout the continent.
Nigeria contributes 35.25 million metric tons to Dangote Cement’s current 52.0 million metric tons of capacity. By the end of the year, capacity will have increased to 61.0Mta thanks to ongoing greenfield projects in Itori, Nigeria (6.0Mta) and Côte d’Ivoire (3.0Mta).
The firm had its highest-ever sales and EBITDA under Dangote’s direction. Unaudited results for H1 2025 indicate that group revenue increased 17.7%, from ₦1.76 trillion in H1 2024 to ₦2.07 trillion.
The new Chairman is Ecobank Transnational Inc.’s previous Group Chairman, Emmanuel Ikazoboh. He described his goal and commended the company’s tenacity in his award speech.
He said, “My vision for Dangote Cement Plc is built upon a foundation of sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and unwavering commitment to our core values.
“We will continue to focus on the following key priorities, Operational Excellence, Strategic Expansion, Sustainability, Innovation and Community Engagement.”
Ikazoboh’s career includes important reform tasks by the Securities and Exchange Commission, such as revamping the Nigerian Stock Exchange and CSCS, as well as senior positions at Deloitte.
