Dangote Cement Ivory Coast has officially begun operations at its new plant in Attingué, about 30 kilometers from Abidjan. The announcement came on Wednesday from Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Ivory Coast, during an event at Novotel Abidjan-Marcory.

The new facility spans 50 hectares and can produce 3 million tonnes of cement yearly, making it one of the company’s largest sites outside Nigeria.

“This strategic project, with an estimated investment of 100 billion CFA francs, embodies Aliko Dangote’s vision of building a self-sufficient Africa,” Gbotta said. “It reflects a continent less dependent on imports and capable of transforming its resources into world-class finished products.”

With this launch, Ivory Coast becomes the 11th African nation hosting a Dangote Cement production plant. The group now boasts 55 million tonnes of annual capacity across Africa. According to the company, the new plant will help meet growing construction demand fueled by rapid urbanization and major national projects.

Forecasts show that the Attingué plant could create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, offering opportunities for youth and supporting local SMEs, including transporters, tradespeople, and suppliers.

Serge Gbotta also emphasized the company’s mission before the opening: “Our goal is to provide Ivorians with locally produced, internationally standard cement at competitive prices.

The Attingué plant is not just an industrial unit; it is a symbol of confidence in the future of Ivory Coast and a commitment to sustainable development alongside local communities.”
