Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Wednesday, visited several communities in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area devastated by recent bandit attacks, promising stronger security measures and support for victims.
The affected towns; Banga, Kurya Madaro, Maguru, Sakajiki, and Kyambarawa, have suffered from escalating banditry and kidnapping incidents that have displaced thousands, particularly women and children.
Speaking in Banga, Governor Lawal sympathised with bereaved families and reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling the insecurity plaguing the state. He revealed that a high-powered delegation, led by his Deputy and the Secretary to the State Government, had earlier visited the communities while he was away.
“As leaders, we are not happy with the current security situation in Zamfara and across the country. We will continue to collaborate with security agencies and stakeholders to restore peace,” Lawal assured.
He urged residents to intensify prayers, expressing confidence that with divine intervention, the violence could be brought to an end. During his visit to Sakajiki, the governor also announced plans to construct a road linking the town to the main road to improve mobility, boost security, and support economic activities.
Zamfara has been one of the states most affected by armed banditry in northern Nigeria, with communities frequently facing deadly raids, mass abductions, and destruction of livelihoods.
