Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga is approaching a dramatic climax as Napoli, Galatasaray, and Al Hilal intensify efforts to secure the Nigerian striker’s signature ahead of the new season.
Osimhen, who scored 37 goals in 41 appearances for Galatasaray during a loan spell last season, is currently on holiday and expected to return to Napoli next week. However, the 25-year-old forward has reportedly expressed a strong desire to remain in Istanbul with Galatasaray, citing his successful stint and comfort at the Turkish club.
Osimhen has clearly communicated his decision and negotiations between Galatasaray and Napoli are underway, with the Turkish champions tabling an initial offer of €50 million plus €5 million in add-ons, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
However, Napoli are holding out for a fee close to the €75 million release clause included in Osimhen’s contract. Talks remain ongoing, with both Galatasaray and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal hoping to close a deal before Napoli’s pre-season begins on July 15.
Despite Galatasaray’s push, Napoli coach Antonio Conte has reopened dialogue with Victor Osimhen and is now reportedly open to reintegrating him into the squad. Italian newspaper Il Mattino reported that the Serie A club reestablished contact with Osimhen over the past few days, a potential signal that they may still attempt to retain him.
Still, Osimhen’s desire to leave appears unwavering following last summer’s fallout with Napoli management. Multiple reports indicate he has ruled out a move to the Premier League, despite interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Al Hilal have relaunched their interest and are prepared to activate Osimhen’s €75m clause. French outlet L’Équipe confirmed that the Saudi Pro League side resumed talks with Napoli, although they are yet to reach a personal agreement with the player. Al Hilal, who are rebuilding after a disappointing 2024/2025 campaign, are also eyeing alternatives including Dusan Vlahovic, Youssef En-Nesyri, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Victor Osimhen’s preference for Galatasaray reportedly hinges on guaranteed UEFA Champions League football and a starring role. Galatasaray officials believe they can convince Napoli to reduce the release clause amount, although Napoli vice president Abdullah Kavukcu has hinted that competing interest from five other top European clubs could complicate negotiations.
With just days to go before Napoli’s pre-season starts, the football world awaits Osimhen’s next move, a choice that could reshape Galatasaray’s European ambitions and mark a major loss for Serie A.
