Nigerians and other overseas students have received a strong warning from the US about the repercussions of breaking student visa laws.

The US Mission in Nigeria warned that students who discontinue their studies, miss classes, or abandon their academic programs without informing their institutions run the possibility of having their visas revoked in a post posted on its official X account on Monday, August 4.

It said that such infractions can have an impact on students’ eligibility to apply for US visas in the future.

“Your student visa may be revoked and you may lose eligibility for future US visas if you drop out, skip classes, or leave your programs of study without informing your school,” the mission said.

Therefore, the US Mission recommended all holders of student visas to make sure they maintain their high academic standing and to adhere scrupulously to the regulations associated with their visas.

“Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the mission stated.
