Thomas Partey, a Ghanaian football player and former Arsenal Football Club midfielder, has been officially charged by United Kingdom authorities with many counts of rape and sexual assault.

Partey, 32, is accused of committing five rapes and one sexual assault against three women between 2021 and 2022, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a statement on Thursday.

In a thorough news release, the Metropolitan Police Service verified the charges, relating the offenses to three different events that three women reported.  There are three allegations of sexual assault against a third complainant, three charges of rape against a second woman, and two charges of rape against a single woman.

On August 5, 2025, Partey, who presently resides in Hertfordshire, England, is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

According to Jenny Wiltshire, his attorney, the football player Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.

“He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further,” Wiltshire continued.

The allegations were brought only four days after Partey’s contract with Arsenal in the English Premier League expired and he formally left the team.

The former Arsenal player could face harsh legal repercussions, including potential jail time, if found guilty.

Given Partey’s recent rise to prominence as one of Africa’s most well-known football players, the trial is anticipated to garner international attention.

Partey’s future professional commitments, including possible offers from teams in Europe and the Middle East, are probably going to be impacted by this development
