South African singer Tyla has won the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) Best Afrobeats trophy with her hit song Push 2 Start. She beat top Nigerian stars to secure the award, marking one of the night’s most notable wins.
Although she triumphed in the Afrobeats category, Tyla lost in “Best Choreography” with Push 2 Start. Other African acts also missed out. Burna Boy fell short in “Video for Good,” while Ayra Starr lost “MTV Push Performance of the Year.”
