President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Nnanna Uzor Kalu as the South East representative on the National Assembly Service Commission during a ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The oath-taking occurred at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, just before the President commenced the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Kalu’s appointment followed his Senate confirmation on May 20, after the Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions Committee dismissed a petition against his nomination. His selection was ratified by the Establishment and Public Service Committee.
“He joins the other commissioners inaugurated on May 5, 2025, for a renewable five-year term,” an official noted.
Nnanna Uzor Kalu, a younger brother to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, is a seasoned politician and former two-term member of the House of Representatives for Aba North/Aba South during the 5th and 6th National Assemblies.
Before moving into a closed-door session, the FEC observed a minute of silence in honour of the late former Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, who passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 70.
