Tinubu Returns to Abuja After 12-Day International Trip

President Bola Tinubu returns to Abuja after spending more than 12 days abroad on official engagements.

His special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the presidential jet left Brasília International Airport at 12:57 p.m. local time.

Carlos Duarte, Brazil’s Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, and Carlos Garcete, Brazil’s ambassador to Nigeria, attended the send-off. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other officials also joined them.

Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 15, stopping briefly in Dubai before arriving in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18. He attended TICAD9, hosted by Japan with UNDP, African Union Commission, and the World Bank. Discussions focused on Africa’s economic growth, reforms, and investment opportunities.

After leaving Japan, Tinubu spent three days in Los Angeles before traveling to Brasília for a two-day state visit. In Brazil, he met President Luiz da Silva and signed MoUs in aviation, foreign affairs, technology, and agriculture.
