President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Brasília on Monday for a Tinubu Brazil visit aimed at strengthening Nigeria-Brazil relations. The trip focuses on new agreements in trade, defence, food security, and energy.

Tinubu was welcomed at the Brasília Air Base by senior officials, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu. At the Planalto Palace, he will meet President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Both leaders will oversee the signing of Memoranda of Understanding before addressing a joint press conference.

The Tinubu Brazil visit also includes meetings with Brazil’s legislature and judiciary. The President will attend the Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum, which brings together business leaders from both countries.

Nigeria and Brazil enjoy decades of cooperation. Their strategic dialogue in June produced seven new agreements covering defence, energy, livestock, tourism, and counternarcotics. Key projects include the Green Imperative Programme and a $2.5 billion JBS investment in Nigeria’s food security.

Special Adviser Sunday Dare described the Tinubu Brazil visit as a push to diversify Nigeria’s partnerships and learn from Brazil’s agribusiness model. He noted it reflects a renewed effort to convert goodwill into tangible economic gains.
