Team Brazil by Claure Group claimed victory at the E1 Lagos GP, the first-ever all-electric raceboat competition in Africa.

A tropical storm briefly delayed the race over Lagos Lagoon, but pilots Timmy Hansen, voted PIF Pilot of the Race, and Ieva Millere-Hagin led Team Brazil to a thrilling win. They held off Virat Kohli’s Team Blue Rising and Team Drogba Global Africa, who finished second and third.

Thousands of spectators filled the Lagos waterfront, celebrating as Nigeria hosted one of the world’s most innovative motorsport championships.

Rodi Basso, founder of E1, praised Lagos for showcasing Africa’s passion for motorsport and sustainability.

He said, “We made history in Lagos today. “This weekend’s race is a landmark moment for our World Championship and for Africa, proving the continent’s appetite for motorsport, sustainability, and technological innovation.

“Our vision is to build a legacy here, inspiring new generations of fans and paving the way for cleaner marine mobility. “Today’s racing was electric in every sense.”

Football legend and Team Drogba Global Africa co-owner Didier Drogba,  joined the podium celebrations, hailing Lagos for creating motorsport history.

Team Brady leads the Championship of the Water, staying ahead of Team Rafa as the Miami finale approaches in November.

The Lagos event marked the penultimate round of the championship. On African waters, RaceBirds reached speeds of up to 50 knots, delivering a breathtaking spectacle of speed and innovation.
