Prior to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final match against Morocco, President Bola Tinubu has authorized the Super Falcons to receive their full set of allowances and match bonuses.

The National Sports Commission’s chairman, Shehu Dikko, made the declaration Thursday. He verified that all entitlements, up until and including the July 26 final, had been paid out to players, coaches, and officials right away.

Dikko called the gesture a sign of a renewed commitment to Nigerian athletics under President Tinubu’s leadership and referred to it as “policy in motion.”

He promised that making on-time payments without any fuss or delays will now be the norm moving ahead. The decision also applies to D’Tigress, the women’s basketball team from Nigeria, who will play their first game in the 2025 FIBA Women AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire. They will also get better bonuses and allowances.

Dikko stated that future generations will value President Tinubu’s changes in the sports industry, saying, “This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity.”
