Governors and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s South-South region have declared their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition in the 2027 general election.

The endorsement was made during an APC stakeholders’ interactive session held over the weekend in Benin City, Edo State.

A statement by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, revealed that party leaders praised President Tinubu’s leadership and policy direction. They affirmed their backing for the continuation of his Renewed Hope Agenda, citing it as a key pathway for Nigeria’s long-term economic growth and stability.

According to the party stakeholders, another term in office would enable the President to consolidate his developmental programs and deepen national progress across sectors.

Representing APC governors in the South-South, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu acknowledged Tinubu’s governance reforms, while Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who hosted the event, commended the unity demonstrated by regional APC leaders.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North), Minister of Niger Delta Development Abubakar Momoh, former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva, and Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku. Others included Edo Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly Blessing Agbebaku, Secretary to the Edo State Government Umar Ikhilor, APC National Woman Leader Mary Alile, Edo State APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe, and Edo South leader Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

During the session, participants passed a unanimous vote of confidence in both Governor Okpebholo and President Tinubu. They identified key reforms, such as the national student loan initiative and tax relief for low-income earners, as major accomplishments of the current administration.

Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude for the regional solidarity, emphasizing the unity among South-South leaders as a milestone for political cooperation. He described the Tinubu administration as one that enables state-level progress through supportive federal policies.

He reaffirmed his earlier commitment to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in Edo State during the 2027 elections, pointing to active road construction projects across eight communities in Uhunmwonde, including a long-neglected route to the village of former Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Governor Okpebholo also highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure and economic reforms, which he said demonstrate clear national leadership and development focus.

The meeting concluded with strong enthusiasm and collective resolve from South-South APC stakeholders to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, marking a key moment in the party’s preparation for 2027.
