The Federal Government has reaffirmed that the South-East region remains central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision and national development agenda, pledging that no part of Nigeria will be marginalised under his leadership.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, made this known during a citizens’ engagement forum in Enugu on Thursday, as part of a three-day tour of ongoing federal projects in Enugu and Ebonyi States.
The initiative, according to the government, aims to directly engage residents and showcase infrastructural and empowerment programmes in the region.
Idris stressed that President Tinubu’s administration has introduced reforms and strategic leadership that prioritise balanced development. He cited the creation of new development commissions to cover previously neglected zones, ensuring equitable distribution of federal resources and opportunities.
“Nigeria will never return to a time when the South-East or any region is treated unfairly,” Idris said, adding that by the end of Tinubu’s first term, the benefits of his policies will be clear to all Nigerians.
The minister also highlighted various empowerment and humanitarian initiatives aimed at cushioning the effects of the fuel subsidy removal and other reform-driven policies. He emphasised the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and equitable progress across all regions.
The engagement, attended by key stakeholders from Enugu State, reinforced the administration’s message that with Tinubu at the helm, Nigeria is on a steady march toward national prosperity.
