On Sunday, Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he would represent Nigeria at the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit, which is set for July 27–29.
Shettima wrote on his official X Twitter to announce his travel, saying he will be attending high-level talks with other world leaders on changing food systems and enhancing global collaboration on food security.
The summit will examine advancements since its first iteration in 2021 and concentrate on strengthening pledges to create climate-smart, resilient, and inclusive food systems.
Shettima is anticipated to take part in discussions about encouraging sustainable farming methods and developing the coffee value chain at the event. In order to present practical instances of food systems change, he will also participate in networking events, field tours, and ministerial roundtables.
Meetings on trade, public finance, and responsible investment are among the other important interactions; these topics are crucial for accomplishing long-term changes to the African food system.
