Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has dismissed worries about a new political alliance, claiming that the PDP is still a strong and unflappable organization, particularly in the South West.

Following a meeting of the South West PDP caucus at the regional secretariat, which was named in honor of the late Hon. Soji Adagunodo, Governor Makinde made the comments on Friday.  He emphasized that rather than running away from any challenge, the PDP is still unified and dedicated to fortifying itself from within.

“The PDP in the South West is united. We are not moved by talks of any coalition. Those in the so-called coalition are familiar faces, many were once in PDP or APC. What have they truly offered? Should we assume they’ve suddenly changed because they switched parties? We won’t abandon our house because of cracks in the roof; we’ll fix it and move forward,” he declared.

He reiterated that the PDP has its own procedures for settling conflicts and restoring unity, demonstrating that the party is capable of handling internal problems.

Prior to the meeting, which was attended by representatives from each of the six states in the Southwest, the caucus released a statement stating that it fully supports the PDP and its national leadership.

Prominent leaders were present, including former Osun Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, and his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi.  The zone’s allegiance to the PDP and its dedication to party unity, stability, and success at all levels were reiterated in the communique.
