Dr. Uma Ukpai, one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian leaders, has passed away at the age of 80. The fiery evangelist died on October 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, miracles, and service.
In a statement, his family said the preacher “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.” Ukpai spent nearly 60 years preaching the gospel, demonstrating God’s power through miracles, and mentoring young ministers.
Known for his large evangelistic crusades across Nigeria and beyond, Dr. Ukpai inspired millions with his dynamic preaching, humility, and commitment to spreading God’s Word.
“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” the family said. “While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”
The family described him as “a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many.”
The family said they will announce details about his burial arrangements soon.
Dr. Ukpai leaves behind his wife, children, and a global Christian community deeply impacted by his ministry.
