Former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has expressed deep condolences to Senator Abba Moro over the tragic deaths of his son and grandson. The Senate Minority Leader, who represents Benue South (Zone C), lost both family members within 48 hours.
Victor Moro, the senator’s son, died in a car crash shortly after returning from Turkey, where he completed his studies. He had recently joined the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to serve his country. His death came just two days after that of his 10-year-old grandson, Aba Moro Junior.
Ortom described the loss as “an unbearable and devastating double tragedy.”
He said, “The death of Victor Moro, a young man full of promise who had just finished his studies in Turkey and returned home to serve his country under the National Youth Service Corps, is especially devastating.”
The former governor’s condolence message, signed by his media aide Terver Akase, reflected deep sorrow. He said the tragedy had plunged not just the Moro family but also friends and political associates into mourning.
Ortom added, “This is indeed a moment of deep pain and sorrow for my brother and friend, Senator Abba Moro. No words are enough to console a father in this kind of situation. My heart goes out to him and the entire family. I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will comfort them and grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”
He also prayed for divine strength for Senator Abba Moro and his family to bear the irreplaceable loss.
