Ogun’s organized labor unions have called off their July 14 strike. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Ogun chapter chairman, Ademola Hameed-Benco, made this announcement on Tuesday under the heading “Notice of Suspension of Strike.” The strike was halted following multiple meetings with the state government, according to Mr. Hameed-Benco.
“Decisively, the state’s organised Labour partook in numerous engagements with the state government, the outcome of which produced this signed Memorandum of Action (MoA). He said.
“Therefore, the industrial strike, which began on July 14, be put on hold, so as to give space and time to the implementation of actions spelt out in the MoA. “Resumption of work, therefore, takes effect from Wednesday, July 23, 2025,” he continued.
He cites the leadership of different unions, veterans both domestically and overseas, and the interventions of revered paramount rulers as additional justifications for ending the strike.
According to Mr. Hameed-Benco, “The Ogun State government has also promised the commencement of full implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) for the state workers from this month (July) 2025,”
