The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representative of the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, from its Kano State chapter.

Announcing the decision, NNPP chairman Hashim Dungurawa said Kofa’s repeated public attacks on the party and its leadership led to his expulsion. He described Kofa as a “weak politician” whose electoral victory came through the Kwankwasiyya movement and NNPP, not personal strength.

Dungurawa added that if Kofa were truly strong, he would have won under the APC, where he previously failed. “He joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya, became a lawmaker, and now deceives himself, thinking he is powerful,” he said.

The chairman explained that after Kofa’s interview with Channels Television, the party set up a reconciliation committee. But his subsequent actions, including openly declaring loyalty outside the party, showed deeper disloyalty.

“Instead of dialogue, he worked against our interest. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” Dungurawa stressed.

Amid speculation that Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa may return to the APC, Dungurawa maintained that NNPP remains strong. He emphasized that politics is about groups and coalitions and reaffirmed the Kwankwasiyya movement’s loyalty to its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

This is not the first disciplinary action by the NNPP. The party previously suspended four lawmakers; Sani Abdullahi Rogo (Rogo/Karaye), Ali Madakin Gini (Dala), Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya), and Senator Kawu Sumaila (Kano South), over alleged anti-party activities.
