Madonna has urged Pope Leo XIV to travel to Gaza before “it is too late” in order to give the children who are suffering in the war-torn area hope. Since it broke out in October 2023, the war between Israel and Gaza has claimed countless lives.
The health minister, who is run by Hamas, reported in an update on July 29 that there have been 60,034 fatalities in Gaza and 145,870 injuries. The talented American singer emphasized in a recent Instagram post how urgently the Pope must step in
Along with highlighting the suffering of Gaza’s children, the 66-year-old hitmaker said that they belong to the world as well as Palestine.
As a universally revered spiritual leader, the Pope has special access to areas where others might not be allowed, Madonna noted. She demanded that “humanitarian gates” be opened right away so that aid can reach defenseless civilians, especially children.
“Most Holy Father, please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it’s too late. As a mother, I cannot bear to watch their suffering. The children of the world belong to everyone,” she wrote.
“You are the only one of us who cannot be denied entry. We need the humanitarian gates to be fully opened to save these innocent children. There is no more time. Please say you will go.”
Conflicting demands have caused ceasefire negotiations to repeatedly stall. Hamas maintained that it would only free all hostages if Israel withdrew completely and the war came to an end.
Israel, meanwhile, has rejected the militant group’s demands for Hamas to disarm and give up power in order to agree to a ceasefire.
