Liverpool’s Premier League troubles deepened on Saturday as they lost 3-2 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, marking their fourth consecutive defeat.

Brentford took an early lead when Dango Ouattara capitalized on Liverpool’s failure to clear Michael Kayode’s long throw. Kevin Schade made it 2-0, sprinting past Ibrahima Konaté before finishing calmly. Just before halftime, Milos Kerkez pulled one back for Liverpool, converting Conor Bradley’s low cross.

After the break, a VAR review awarded Brentford a penalty when Virgil van Dijk fouled Ouattara. Igor Thiago converted to restore the two-goal cushion. Although Mohamed Salah reduced the deficit with a late strike that went in off the bar, Liverpool couldn’t find an equalizer.

The loss leaves Liverpool sixth in the Premier League, potentially seven points behind leaders Arsenal. Manager Arne Slot faces mounting criticism after five defeats in six games, despite a record £450 million summer spend.

Brentford’s victory lifted them to 10th place, highlighting Liverpool’s ongoing defensive problems and raising concerns over their faltering title ambitions.
