According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Larry Ellison, a co-founder of Oracle, has surpassed Mark Zuckerberg to become the second-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $251 billion.

As investor interest in artificial intelligence (AI) grows, Oracle’s 41% stock surge has contributed to his wealth increasing by almost $60 billion in 2025 alone. The aggressive growth of Oracle into cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence is helping Ellison, who owns roughly 40% of the company.

Strong earnings and a significant stake in Stargate, a $500 billion U.S. federal initiative to advance AI capabilities, are the reasons behind Oracle’s recent surge. Oracle is a tech partner and founding member of the project, along with OpenAI, SoftBank, and MGX.

The company’s Q4 revenue was $15.9 billion, up 11%, and its remaining performance obligations were $138 billion, up 41%. Additionally, a $3 billion investment to develop cloud and AI infrastructure in Europe was announced.

Ellison is not the only one who has benefited from AI. With a net worth of $149 billion, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has overtaken Warren Buffett due to robust chip demand and U.S. approval to ship to China.

Beyond business, Larry Ellison established the Ellison Institute of Technology at Oxford and reiterated his Giving Pledge to donate 95% of his fortune. The Institute uses cutting-edge science and technology to address global issues like hunger, disease, and climate change.

“There are additional ways that I would like to invest my time and resources in giving back to the world we share.”

“EIT’s humane endeavors include transforming healthcare by designing and distributing a new generation of life-saving drugs, combating world hunger by engineering higher-yielding crops and building a global network of low-cost indoor growing systems, and slowing climate change by developing efficient clean energy generation and storage systems”, he continued.

“So, I am amending my giving pledge and promising to do more—by concentrating my resources on the Institute. I believe this will improve our chances of delivering practical solutions to the problems of hunger, healthcare and climate change.
