On Thursday, October 30, two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses collided in the Mangoro area of Lagos. The crash injured several passengers.
The accident occurred at Onipetesi, Ikeja, inside the BRT lane on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. According to an eyewitness, a commercial bus entered the restricted BRT lane, forcing one BRT driver to swerve.
“The driver was trying to avoid hitting the commercial bus that suddenly drove into the lane,” the witness said.
“In the process, he collided with another BRT coming from the other side.”
The impact caused injuries among passengers. Bystanders and emergency responders helped transport the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that no fatalities occurred. Traffic officers later arrived to clear the wreckage and manage congestion.
The Lagos BRT bus crash highlights ongoing concerns about lane violations and road safety enforcement in the city.
