The statutory National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party (LP) has chosen Senator Nenadi Usman as the party’s interim national chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as its interim national secretary.

The party’s NEC meeting in Abuja on Friday saw the election of Nenadi. It is anticipated that the interim working committee will supervise all party operations until the party convention, at which point elections for a new NEC will be held.

During the meeting, other resolutions were approved, such as the schedule for the Labour Party’s National Convention, ward congresses, local government area congresses, state congresses, and zonal congresses.

To guarantee free and fair elections at all levels, the party’s National Secretariat is required to release the rules and schedule.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, and the party’s sole governor, Alex Otti of Abia State, were among those present at the meeting on Friday.
