Fuji icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, often referred to as Kwam 1, has refuted allegations of wrongdoing at the Abuja airport, maintaining that he was the victim, not the aggressor, in the event that is presently being looked into by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
In a statement sent by his media assistant Kunle Rasheed, Kwam 1 denied rumors that he violated aviation regulations or put passengers in danger when boarding a ValueJet aircraft on August 5, 2025.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) displayed unruly conduct while attempting to board a ValueJet flight… We wish to categorically state that this narrative is not only exaggerated but also misleading,”
Kwam 1 clarified that the item that caught security’s notice was only “plain drinking water” that was given to him in the lounge; it was neither illegal nor something that may jeopardize flight safety.
“Claims that K1 blocked the aircraft or attempted to disrupt operations are completely unfounded,” the experienced artist claimed, refuting the idea that he interfered with airport operations. The veteran artiste, who is globally respected and frequently travels both locally and internationally, understands and strictly adheres to aviation protocols.”
Kwam 1 further disclosed that the Chairman and Managing Director of ValueJet expressed regret to him and even offered to take him to Lagos on a private aircraft, but he declined the offer.
The statement continued, “If indeed there had been anything inappropriate in his conduct, the Head of Airport Security, officials from relevant agencies such as FAAN and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), as well as the Chairman and Managing Director of the airline, would not have reached out personally to appeal, tender apologies, and even go as far as arranging a private jet to fly him to Lagos, at no cost. Despite persistent persuasion from the airline’s top executives, K1 graciously declined the offer”
Kwam 1 described himself as the only individual impacted by the incident, saying, “No one else but him and his personal assistant was directly involved. A few concerned passengers who witnessed the incident firsthand appealed to him to remain calm, recognizing the undue pressure he was under.
“It is important to note that the pilot involved now has her license suspended,” he added in response to rumors about the pilot. Given the circumstances, it is no surprise if she attempts to deflect blame; surely, she must lie to cover herself up.”
According to Kwam 1, the public and media should report properly and refrain from drawing hasty judgments.
