In preparation for the Anambra Governorship Election, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began moving to their polling stations in Awka South Local Government Area early Saturday morning.
INEC officials departed from St. Matthew Catholic Church for various polling locations. By 7:07 a.m., ad hoc staff arrived at the Community Primary School in Amawbia, which serves Wards 01 and 02 in Awka South.
Buses carrying voting materials left the premises as officials headed to their assigned areas. Observers noted that the deployment process appeared orderly and well-coordinated.
INEC reported that 2,802,790 registered voters will cast their votes in 5,718 polling units across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State. The Anambra Governorship Election will feature sixteen candidates across three senatorial districts.
Top contenders include Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), and Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
INEC assured residents that the Anambra Governorship Election will be credible, transparent, and peaceful.
