The House of Representatives has officially adjourned plenary sessions for its annual recess, with legislative activities expected to resume on September 23, 2025.
The motion for adjournment was moved, seconded, and adopted during Wednesday’s plenary at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announced the recess, describing it as a critical part of the National Assembly’s legislative calendar.
“This period offers an opportunity for lawmakers to engage in constituency activities, conduct oversight, and attend to personal matters,” the Speaker stated.
He also urged members to use the break to reconnect with their constituents, assess ongoing federal projects, and address local concerns.
This two-month annual recess follows the tradition of legislative breaks observed by Nigeria’s bicameral legislature and aligns with its mid-year agenda.
