Giuseppe Marsocci Armani Group CEO announcement marks a new era for the iconic fashion house. Marsocci, 61, takes over from the late Giorgio Armani.

He joined the company in 2003 and worked in its New York office for more than a decade. For the past six years, he directly reported to Armani as global chief commercial officer and deputy general manager.

Leo Dell’Orco, Armani’s longtime companion, will serve as chairman of the board. Silvana Armani, the designer’s niece, will take on the role of vice-president.

“In the coming weeks, the board of directors of Giorgio Armani will take its final form upon completion of the procedures and execution of the will,” the group said in a statement.

Armani, who died at 91 in September, built a global fashion empire over fifty years in couture, accessories, and hotels.

After defending his independence throughout his life, he left the responsibility of the company’s future to his heirs. The group said Marsocci’s appointment would “start the new phase without interruption in the company’s management.”

“The appointment is an important confirmation of the united will of the Armani family to continue the project that Giorgio Armani has built and sustained for 50 years,” it added.

Dell’Orco praised Marsocci’s dedication and experience, saying his close work with Armani made him the natural choice to lead.

“This is a project of extraordinary importance, of continuity and enhancement of one of the most prestigious Made in Italy brands in the world,” Marsocci stated. “The goal is challenging, especially in a luxury market that is going through deep reflection,” he added.
