Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed claims of defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ganduje said the reports about him joining the ADC were false.

He resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27, citing health reasons. On August 3, 2023, at an emergency National Executive Committee meeting, APC leaders appointed Ganduje, a former Kano State governor, as chairman.

Two months after his resignation, reports spread that Ganduje and his supporters planned to abandon the APC for the ADC.

However, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje’s spokesman, confirmed that the former Kano governor still supports President Bola Tinubu.

On Saturday, Olofu told reporters that Ganduje has no plan to leave the APC. He stressed that Ganduje denies defection to the African Democratic Congress and remains loyal to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Olofu said, “Ganduje is a committed APC member. He is loyal to the party, the President, and the Renewed Hope Agenda. So, ignore those saying he is planning to leave the APC. It is just fake news.”
