The Federal Government announced on Friday that the second installment of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears owed to federal civil servants had been paid.
In a statement, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) stated that the government had already settled one month of the first five months’ worth of unpaid arrears.
Following the payment of the second tranche, the remaining three tranches must be used up in order to settle the wage award arrears, according to the statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations.
The OAGF emphasized that the Federal Government will continue to pay the wage award in installments of ₦35,000 per month until the outstanding arrears are settled, despite rumors in some quarters that the Federal Government had defaulted on payment of the arrears.
