The FCT Police have suspended the enforcement of the tinted glass permit following a court order halting the exercise.

According to FCT Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the decision came after the police officially received the court directive.

“The decision came after the police officially received the court order,” Adeh said during an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT).

Adeh confirmed that the enforcement will remain suspended until the court concludes its judgment.

“Information reaching me from the office of the PRO is that the order has been received and the enforcement of the tinted permit is now on hold pending the court’s verdict,” she said.

She stressed that the police would maintain compliance with the judicial process.

“We are waiting for the verdict. We are not against the courts, and we will continue to wait until we get a verdict,” she added.

Adeh also highlighted the security rationale behind the tinted glass permit policy.

“The law was not made by us. We are enforcers. The policy was purely security-driven. Some criminals were using tinted vehicles to commit offences, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify suspects,” she explained.

The FCT Police tinted glass permit enforcement, originally designed to curb criminal activities involving vehicles with darkened windows, will stay suspended until the court’s final decision.
