Hamas has been accused by the family of purposefully starving Israeli hostage Evyatar David, 24, in order to further its propaganda agenda. This comes after a video of a very thin David in a tunnel was made public.

The man claimed to have gone days without eating and to be excavating his own tomb. One day after Hamas published a video of an emaciated David in a small concrete tunnel, the family said on Saturday that “he is being starved purely to serve Hamas’s propaganda.”

In the attack on a music event in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, David was kidnapped. The family called him a “living skeleton” and called on Israel and the world community to take immediate action.

Evyatar David may be heard stating, “I haven’t eaten for days,” in the Hamas-released video. He is shown excavating what he claims would be his own grave and remarks, “I barely got drinking water.”

According to Israel, 27 of the 251 captives that Hamas took are thought to be dead, while 49 are still in Gaza.

In the meantime, Gaza’s humanitarian situation keeps getting worse. Malnutrition has claimed 169 lives since the start of the conflict, including 93 youngsters, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, which announced seven further fatalities on Saturday.

Israel is coming under increasing fire for allegedly limiting humanitarian access, which it disputes, even though relief deliveries are organized by Israel and its foreign partners.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours have killed at least 83 individuals and injured over 1,000 others.
