England qualified for the 2026 World Cup after a dominant 5-0 win over Latvia in Riga on Tuesday.

Anthony Gordon opened the scoring before Harry Kane netted twice, bringing his season total to 21 goals in 13 games. Maksims Tonisev’s own goal and Eberechi Eze’s late strike sealed the emphatic victory.

With two matches left, Thomas Tuchel’s side topped Group K, becoming the first European nation to qualify. England have scored 18 goals  and conceded none, winning all six qualifiers under the German coach.

“It’s a special moment,” said Tuchel, praising his team’s focus and form. “It’s a special feeling to have six victories and six clean sheets.”

Gordon, in fine form on the left, scored his second England goal before Kane struck twice before halftime, including a calmly converted penalty.

Eze’s composed finish and Latvia’s own goal completed the rout as England extended their unbeaten run since Tuchel’s challenging start.

With stars like Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish yet to return, competition for spots will intensify before the 2026 tournament.

The result confirms England’s growing strength under Tuchel and their serious bid to claim a major trophy for the first time since 1966.
