Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central, was found guilty of contempt by the Federal High Court in Abuja today, the 4th of July, 2025.

The besieged legislator published a sarcastic apology to Senator President Godswill Akpabio, which was against the court’s order, according to a verdict handed by Justice Binta Nyako.

The court concluded that the aforementioned apology, which she posted on her Facebook page on April 7, mocked a gag order the court had imposed on the parties.

As a result, the court mandated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan apologize to it in two national dailies and on her Facebook page within seven days. The court emphasized that her contempt was in a civil action and also sentenced her to pay a fine of N5 million.

The court declined to make any order in favor of Senator Akpabio, despite the fact that the ruling followed a contempt action that she had started.

In the meantime, the court has rendered its decision in the lawsuit that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan filed to overturn the Senate’s harsh six-month suspension of her.
