The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received court approval to proceed with its national convention in Ibadan on November 15-16, 2025. The Oyo State High Court granted the permission and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to participate in and supervise the process.

Justice A. L. Akintola delivered the ruling and issued an interim order allowing the PDP to hold its convention without interference. Folahan Adelabi filed an ex-parte motion against the PDP, Umar Damagum, Governor Fintiri, and INEC, prompting the decision.

Adelabi asked the court to stop the defendants from altering or disrupting the convention’s schedule, rules, or timetable. In his judgment, Justice Akintola stated that the claimant presented a strong case requiring urgent judicial attention.

“The motion ex-parte has merit and succeeds as prayed,” the judge ruled, granting temporary reliefs that protect the PDP’s convention schedule and direct all parties to allow it to proceed as planned.

The PDP national convention Ibadan ruling gives the party the legal backing to continue its preparations. Justice Akintola postponed the interlocutory injunction hearing until November 10, 2025.

The court sealed the interim ruling on November 3, 2025, and the Principal Registrar, S. O. Hammed, approved it for record.
