COAS Oluyede Approves Major Nigerian Army Reshuffle

A significant reorganization of the Nigerian Army has been authorized by Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who has repositioned senior officers in important command and staff roles.

This was stated in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations.

Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training facilities, and Brigade Commanders are all impacted by the postings, according to Ms. Anele.

“Maj.-Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka was named Army Chief of Logistics, Maj.-Gen. A.A. Adekeye, named Army Chief of Personnel Management, and Maj.-Gen. T.B. Ugiagbe assumed the role of Army Chief of Standard and Evaluation,” she said.

She also mentioned the appointment of Maj.-Gen. M.O. Erebulu as Provost Marshal (Army) and Maj.-Gen. A.A. Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army).

“Others include Maj.-Gen. E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, and Maj.-Gen. J.E. Osifo as Director-General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation,” she continued.

“Maj.-Gen. S.A. Akesode was posted as Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, Ethiopia.

“The new GOCs are Maj.-Gen. A.S.M. Wase, appointed GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Maj.-Gen. C.R. Nnebeife, appointed GOC 2 Division/Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA”

Additionally, Maj.-Gen. K.O. Osemwegie leads the Army Signal School, Maj.-Gen. A.J. Aliyu assumes leadership at the Ordnance School, and Maj.-Gen. M.O. Ihanuwaze was named the new Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School, according to Ms. Anele.

Maj.-Gen. A.C. Adetoba has been appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, she added.

“Also redeployed are Brig.-Gen. M. Jimoh as Commander, 1 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. N.E. Okoloagu as Commander, 2 Brigade, and Brig.-Gen. A.A. Bello as Commander, 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3, Operation DELTA SAFE.

She concluded,“Oluyede charged the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts in sustaining ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency and other security threats, while assuring that troops’ welfare remained his priority”
