When Chelsea plays Fluminense of Brazil in the Club World Cup semi-final later today, they will be missing an important player. Romeo Lavia and Reece James’ fitness status has been updated by Enzo Maresca as Chelsea gets ready for their matchup with Fluminense in the Club World Cup semi-final.
Maresca verified that Lavia missed Chelsea’s victory over Palmeiras in the quarterfinals due to a muscular injury sustained during their Round of 16 victory over Benfica.
He told the media, “Romeo is training already but is unfortunately not training with us so is not ready for tomorrow.”
Furthermore, Maresca has to deal with suspensions because Liam Delap and Levi Colwill were disqualified from the Fluminense match after receiving their second yellow cards of the competition against Palmeiras.
Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea career is further in doubt as new signee, Joao Pedro is anticipated to lead the line in other news.
The Blues will play the Brazilian team tonight in New Jersey. Chelsea will go to the event final, where they will play the winner of the Real Madrid vs. PSG match, if they defeat Fluminense.
