Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s remains have been buried in Daura, his hometown in the Daura Emirate of Katsina State. Following funeral prayers on Tuesday evening, the former president was laid to rest.
Vice President Kashim Shettima led the delegation sent by President Tinubu to repatriate his body for a state burial. His remains had arrived in Katsina, the state capital, from the United Kingdom earlier on Tuesday aboard a Presidential Jet.
President Bola Tinubu received buhari’s remains, which were then transported to Daura for the last funeral ceremonies in accordance with Islamic law.
Along with President Tinubu, his wife Oluremi, Vice Shettima, and his wife leading the convoy, his remains were taken by a group of military pall bearers with the rank of Major General or higher and placed in an ambulance for the final trip to Daura.
The convoy to Daura also included state governors and senior government officials. After a protracted struggle with an unidentified illness, former President Buhari passed away in a London hospital on Sunday afternoon.
