As the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) approaches the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor, Methodist Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. John Eze has urged stakeholders to seek divine guidance and prioritize integrity over politics.

In a statement released after a prophetic prayer walk at the university’s main gate on Friday, Bishop Eze called for the emergence of a visionary, God-fearing leader capable of restoring the institution’s moral and academic excellence.

“The University of Nigeria deserves a Nehemiah, a leader who will rebuild the broken walls and restore its lost glory,” he said.

During the symbolic walk, the bishop anointed the university’s entrance and exit gates, praying for divine intervention in the selection process amid growing political speculation and public interest.

Bishop Eze emphasized the need for a transformational figure; not merely an administrator, who would prioritize the welfare of staff and students, ensure national relevance, and position the university for global competitiveness.

“I urge stakeholders to rise above sentiments and politics. Only a God-fearing, visionary leader can reposition UNN for greatness,” he concluded.

The tenure of the current Vice Chancellor is drawing to a close, making the upcoming appointment critical for the institution’s future trajectory.
