The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for three months. They reportedly initiated the impeachment process against Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh.
Suspended lawmakers include Shimawua Terna (Kyan State Constituency), Cyril Ekong (Oju 2), Abu Umoru (Apa), and Alfred Berger, the House spokesman for Makurdi North. The decision came Friday during plenary.
Following the suspensions, the House reorganized its leadership. Kennedy Angbo became the new Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya the Deputy Chief Whip, and Elias Audu the new House spokesman.
Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza, two other nominees, will assume leadership roles later.
Meanwhile, the House began screening five commissioner nominees on Friday.
