Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended his congratulations to Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their qualification for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket final.
In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Atiku commended the team’s exceptional performance and expressed confidence in their ability to secure victory.
“Congratulations to D’Tigress, @DtigressNG, Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, on reaching the finals of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket,” he wrote.
“We are solidly behind you and confident that, following the Super Falcons’ triumph, another laurel may soon be coming home. Wishing you victory.”
Atiku’s message follows growing national support for the team, as they prepare to contest for their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title.
D’Tigress earned their spot in the final after defeating Senegal 75–68 in a tense semifinal match on Saturday at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian side remains undefeated in the tournament and now eyes another continental crown, building on the momentum of the Super Falcons’ recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
