Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has confirmed his intention to contest Nigeria’s presidency again in 2027. Atiku officially announced his 2027 presidential bid through his spokesperson, Tunde Olusunle, on Sunday.

Atiku dismissed claims by Achievers University’s Professor Ola Olateju that he had shifted focus away from the presidency. Speaking from his UAE vacation home, Atiku clarified: “Prof. Olateju was not speaking for me. I remain committed to seeking Nigeria’s leadership.”

The former PDP presidential candidate warned that Nigeria faces a worsening decline and insisted it must be rescued. “I will run in 2027. I find the poverty, pain, and corruption devastating our country unacceptable,” he said.

Atiku assured his supporters that the opposition coalition, built on the ADC platform, remains strong. He vowed it would shock critics in the 2027 elections.

“The deceit, loss of values, large-scale theft, and lack of accountability must concern every patriot,” Atiku stated. “I will offer myself to lead the reconstruction of our traumatised homeland.”

He also condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of “unprecedented theft.” According to him, the Atiku 2027 presidential bid is not about personal ambition but about saving Nigeria.

Atiku, who has contested multiple times, insisted his drive comes from a commitment to rebuilding Nigeria, not self-interest.
