Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 victory over West Ham, while Tottenham and Manchester United also recorded crucial wins in an eventful weekend of English football.

Declan Rice scored Arsenal’s opener against his former club after Alphonse Areola parried Eberechi Eze’s strike. Bukayo Saka scored a penalty to mark Mikel Arteta’s 300th match as Arsenal manager after Jurrien Timber was fouled.

Despite losing captain Martin Ødegaard to injury again, the Gunners went one point clear of Liverpool.

At Elland Road, Tottenham, managed by Thomas Frank, battled through stormy conditions to beat Leeds United 2-1 and climb to second place.

Mathys Tel opened the scoring before Noah Okafor equalized for Leeds. However, Mohammed Kudus sealed victory with a deflected strike, his first goal for Spurs.

Frank praised his players’ resilience, saying, “The character was the foundation.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United eased pressure on under-fire boss Ruben Amorim with a much-needed 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford. Mason Mount netted early from Bryan Mbeumo’s cross, and Benjamin Sesko added his first home goal from a long throw.

The win gave United relief after inconsistent performances this season.
