The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has launched a 489-member campaign council to spearhead Governor Charles Soludo’s reelection bid ahead of the Anambra governorship election on November 8.
Speaking in Awka during the inauguration, APGA National Chairman Sylvester Ezeokenwa said the campaign marked a clear sign of victory. He declared that the people of Anambra had already endorsed Soludo.
APGA Anambra Chairperson Ifeatu Obi-Okoye stressed that every ward must deliver votes for the governor’s reelection. Campaign Director-General Solo Chukwulobelu emphasized grassroots mobilization, noting that elections are won at ward and polling units.
Former Anambra Deputy Governor Emeka Sibeudu, also National Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, pledged support. He praised Soludo’s achievements and said Igbos back successful leaders regardless of party.
Governor Soludo thanked APGA for its unity and resilience. He described the 489-member council as a movement among Anambra’s 8.5 million residents.
INEC confirmed that 16 political parties will participate in the election. Six nominated women as deputy candidates, while two; NRM and AAC, nominated women for governor.
INEC also reported 168,187 new voter registrations in Anambra during the July Continuous Voter Registration, the highest since 2017.
