The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports of printing a sole presidential nomination form for President Bola Tinubu. The party stressed that the 2027 election process remains open to all aspirants.

APC’s National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu, addressed the issue at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday. He stated that while Tinubu has received broad endorsements, the nomination process is still open.

“The NWC and many party organs endorsed President Tinubu as our candidate. Governors and leaders across all zones also endorsed him. But this does not mean the door is closed,” Argungu said.

He emphasized that any qualified aspirant can contest under the APC platform.

“We will not close our doors. When the time comes, our timetable will be announced. Anyone who wants to contest can buy the expression of interest and nomination forms,” he explained.

Argungu dismissed claims of dictatorship within the party. “Democracy does not permit dictatorship. While most members endorsed Tinubu, others can still contest under the APC platform,” he said.

He assured Nigerians that APC would follow the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines to ensure transparency. He also highlighted APC’s recent victories in bye-elections across opposition strongholds as proof of growing trust in Tinubu and the party.

“Winning in PDP states shows that Nigerians believe in Tinubu’s leadership and the APC progressive agenda,” Argungu added.

On the Ekiti governorship primary, Argungu clarified that no aspirant has been sidelined. “So far, four aspirants, including the governor, have purchased forms. Two are men, and two are women. Women benefited from our gender-sensitive policy granting free nomination forms,” he explained.

The APC insists that democracy within the party remains strong, open, and fair.
